The Akademie für Textilveredlung (Academy for Textile Finishing) is organising the Puncher Convention for the third time on 15 April 2024. The programme includes knowledge transfer and networking. Participants can also look forward to an exhibition of leading companies from the embroidery industry.

Creating an embroidery file, digitising small letters and basic shapes such as circles and lines or simply turning a logo into an embroidered eye-catcher, the Puncher Convention provides commercial and ambitious embroiderers and punchers with the necessary knowledge as a basis for good embroidery and satisfied customers.

Lectures for beginners and advanced students

The Puncher Convention offers lectures in plenary sessions as well as seminars for beginners and advanced students. The speakers are punch and embroidery experts with many years of practical experience. Massimo Baezzato (ConStitch Embroidery Design) will discuss, among other things, the pattern structure and embroidery sequence of an embroidery file and explain the punching of basic shapes. He will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of automatic punching with vector data compared to manual punching with pixel data.

The punching of fonts in general and the special challenges of small fonts in particular are the topics of Barbara Stümer (Stümer Stick). For advanced embroiderers, Barbara Stümer will be focussing on appliqué and 3D volume embroidery.

“Pimp your Logo” is an initiative by Reiner Knochel and Massimo Baezzato in cooperation with Gustav Daiber and ZSK Stickmaschinen. The campaign has already taken place live at the two trade fairs TecStyle Visions and PSI. At the Puncher Convention, the two experts will present the possibilities of creating exciting eye-catchers from a logo.

Talitha Wagner (talitha kumi) and Kasia Hanack (KASIM) are appearing as speakers at Aka-Tex for the first time. Talitha Wagner, who is a lecturer specialising in embroidery in the field of fashion at Pforzheim University, will be focusing on innovative topics in her lectures and seminars. For example, she will be presenting perspectives on embroidery and punching and the Zukunftsinstitut’s (Future Institute) so-called megatrend map. She also talks about the art of imitation using embroidery and explains the special stop-and-go functions in the punch programme for creating applications.

Kasia Hanack shares innovative ideas for creative embroidery. She introduces special effects with mixed media techniques such as trapunto, sublimation, DTF printing and special effect embroidery film.

“Online personalisation” is the topic of the presentation by Augustin Daehler (Melco International).

Leading companies from the embroidery industry

The Puncher Convention N°3 will be complemented by an exhibition of leading suppliers of embroidery machines and consumables. The exclusive textile partner Gustav Daiber and the machine suppliers Mountek, Barudan Embroidery Machines, Melco International, Walz Solutions and ZSK Embroidery Machines will be there. The companies coFEE and Gunold will be showing embroidery threads and embroidery materials. Wilcom presents the punch software of the same name. Embroidery needles will be presented by needle manufacturer Groz-Beckert. Textile Experience will provide insights into creative embroidery work.
