During a virtual Award Ceremony ZSK Stickmaschinen recently received an award in the „NRW Economy in Change“ business competition. This makes ZSK Stickmaschinen one of 11 outstanding companies which symbolise the structural change of the federal state towards a future-oriented business location in an exemplary manner.

Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitisation and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and patron of the competition congratulated all the award-winners. “The prize winners are impressive examples of how companies in North Rhine-Westphalia are shaping the diverse digital and ecological transformation processes and mastering the current challenges and making them useful for themselves”, says Dr. Andreas Pinkwart.

From machine manufacturer to solutions provider

For decades ZSK Stickmaschinen was a successful producer of industrial embroidery machines. In 2007  Chinese companies entered the market with low priced embroidery machines. ZSK Stickmaschinen has reacted to this challenge by changing its business model. The company has changed from a machine manufacturer for textile finishing in a provider of solutions for technical and economic challenges in the embroidery industry. This quickly opened up many other markets and sectors, such as automotive engineering, aviation and medical technology and other areas of application, for which the company offers tailor-made solutions.

In addition to the classic embroidery machines, ZSK today also manufactures technical embroidery systems which lay and fix wires, fibres or tubular fabrics in any required shape on a fabric. These machines are used, for example, in the automotive industry for the production of seat and steering wheel heaters.

Further fields of application are smart textiles and e-textiles, which are equipped with conductive yarns and sensors. This gives traditional fabrics new functions, such as measuring temperature, moisture or stretch.

One of the most innovative and sophisticated processes is carbon laying using the TFP (Tailored Fiber Placement) process. With TFP, carbon products such as carbon car rims can be manufactured quickly and precisely. Apart from considerable material and cost savings, the parts produced in this way are convincing due to their extreme resilience.
