With three events on topics around the sustainability in the textile supply chain, Akatex (the Academy for Textile Finishing) puts a new focus for the upcoming autumn. For the first time, the newly concepted workshop “Shaping the future with Ecodesign” will take place on November 8th, 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The participants will learn under the guidance of the sustainability pioneer Bianca Seidel, how they can develop innovative solutions for successful business models based on the concept Ecodesign.

Due to the high demand, the screen printing seminar “Sustainability: certified textile printing” is again on programme. The screen printing expert Thomas Mosner will show on October 10th, 2019 at Siebdruck Service Welle in Oberkirch, Germany, ways for achieving a sustainable textile production in accordance with the GOTS standard.

The seminar is sponsored by the screen printing ink manufacturer EPTA inks and the textile producer Mantis World. The topic of the sustainable cotton production will be the focus of the basic seminar “Cotton” that will take place on November 20th, 2019. The event will be organised in cooperation with the Bremen Cotton Exchange and the Faserinstitut Bremen.

New Wave Germany

For their second academy week from September 24th – 27th, Akatex will be guest at the new textile logistic centre of New Wave in Geiselwind. Together with the manufacturer of corporate fashion, promotional textiles, sports-wear and workwear they will offer four seminars during four subsequent days. It starts with the seminar “A way through the variety of embroidery materials” on September 24th with the speaker and master embroiderer Dennis Ermert from embcon.

At the second day, the popular seminar “Textile material knowledge” will be lead by the textile engineer and garment technician Birgit Jussen. Due to the large demand, the seminar „I am allowed to?” will take place for the third time on September 26th. The speaker Thomas Seifert, specialist lawyer for industrial property rights informs textile finishers and textile processing businesses about important aspects concerning trademarks, designs and copyrights. The ‘’Akademiewoche’’ concludes with a seminar from Eduard A. Schreiber to the topic of enterprise resource planning for textile finishers, promotional experts and distributors of promotional products.

Two further seminars in Düsseldorf and Wolfsburg complete the comprehensive programme. During the seminar “Safe products, satisfied customers” the designer and expert for product safety Lutz Gathman will show together with the PSI Network Düsseldorf that the product safety law does not have to be a sword of Damocles. The textile print company Mr. Tex in Wolfsburg will open its doors for the seminar “Digital printing direct onto the T-Shirt”. The two speakers Jan Worm, owner of Mr. Tex, and Max Heedemann, applied technology consultant at IVM Sign TEX will explain on November 18th the DTG technology in theory and practice.
