Stitch & Print International 2011 Number 3

In this edition

When you receive this issue, you will probably have restarted work after summer holidays. I hope that you all enjoyed the break and returned to work with fresh energy and enthusiasm.

In this issue you will find an ITMA show preview. Many people will now be preparing for the ITMA (International Exhibition of Textile Machinery), which will take place 22–29 September 2011 in Barcelona, Spain. Did you know that ITMA has been held every four years since 1951? We congratulate Cematex on this long term of organising this trade show. Nowadays there are many shows held. Therefore, show organisations have to make even more efforts to attract exhibitors and visitors to their shows. Because of the competition, some well-known shows such as IMB in Cologne, Germany are no longer held.

Also in this issue we look back at two other shows that were held simultaneously in May in Germany: FESPA Fabric and the TexProcess show. Some exhibiting companies, therefore, were forced to make a choice as to which show they would exhibit at. Both shows turned out to be successful and the TexProcess show should have an excellent chance to establish itself in the market for the coming years. This show will be held every ‘even’ year from now (2012, 2014 etc).

If you are thinking about expanding your business with a new embroidery machine, then do please take a look at the embroidery machines overview in this issue. Seven machine manufacturers each inform you about two of their machines.

We are happy to welcome back Daniela Hutter from Emtrain to our magazine. In this issue she discusses the calculating of the costs of digitising. Price competition is very difficult in the embroidery industry and all too often, the calculation is not correct.

Whether you use screenprinting or digital printing, a critical aspect of your workflow is making your artwork look as good as possible. Dane Clement tells how to improve your artwork before printing. The better your artwork, the better it will look when printed.
