On Thursday 21 October 2010, Textilforschungsinstitut Thüringen-Vogtland e.V. (TITV Greiz) will be running the workshop Textile Surfaces – functional and effective at TITV Greiz, Germany. Recognised speakers from the industry and science will inform about current processes and products and will present developments in surface creation.
More and more new application fields for textiles are being opened by modifying the surfaces. Physical and chemical methods and sustainable technologies are used to create functionalities for textiles. Besides developing basically new processes for modifying the properties, already-known functionalities are also enhanced, such as anti-microbial, flame-retardant or conducting finishes that are further developed. This is done through new products, through new insights concerning the effectiveness of the finishing processes, through experiences of their risks and through suitable processes to prove the effectiveness.
In parallel with the workshop there will be presentations and demonstrations from companies in the Technical Finishing department of the Institute (Veredlungstechnikum).
